Screenprinting Magazine editor Tom Frescka dies
My editor over at Screenprinting magazine passed away at age 42 – way too young. He leaves behind a wife and 3 kids, and a big set of shoes to fill. He was very encouraging to me through the years, and helped me a lot with my writing. He was a champion of screenprinting in an increasingly pro-digital world.
His dad was an editor there back in the 80′s and I learned so much from that magazine when I was starting out. With Tom’s encouragement I became a columnist and occasional feature writer, so it was pretty cool to come full circle when he offered my a column entitled Shop Talk, and pretty well gave me carte blanche to write on any subject I wanted, although it was supposed to tackle production problems for ‘the little guy’.
On behalf of the Squeegeeville ‘family’ we offer our condolences to the family. A trust fund has been set up for his kids, if anyone would like to contribute, go to www.screenweb.com and find the info.
We’ll miss you Tom.
