As archival as any plastic. Are you talking in a fine art sense, or 'how long will they last' as outdoor advertising?

they are both damaged by sunlight and as they age they get brittle as the plasticisers migrate from the material - this is especially true with vinyl.

Mylar is a bit tougher, and doesn't shrink and expand as much as vinyl.

If you look at the vinyl from various manufacturers (assuming you are talking about pressure sensitive?) you will notice a lot of it is rated for 2yr, or 5 yr, etc service life. I would go for the longest rated material if you want something to last.

Also, in my experience, vinyl and other printable plastics show a wide variety of quality levels from manufacturer to manufacturer. Investigate and test before you commit to any brand or material.
