Traveling Courses

Over the past few years, we have traveled to California, Austin Texas, Seattle, the Yukon, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, Stratford and quite a few other locations to conduct training courses and printing demonstrations. If you have a studio or workplace and want to host a course we want to hear from you. We can help you set it up, find students, and bring screenprinting to your neighbourhood. (It's also a good way to get a free training course and shop tuneup - call me 250 334-2598 if interested, or by email through the site)

Although not really a 'course', we will also be in attendance and demonstrating screenprinting live at Flatstock 16 in Austin TX in the Convention Centre at SXSW Mar. 13-15,  and Flatstock 18 in Seattle at Bumbershoot on the Labour Day weekend in September. In October, we will be exhibiting TMI Screenprinting Equipment at SGIA '08 in Atlanta Oct. 15-18.  Drop by and say hi!

Following are some pictures and links to past classes.

monsterpress

Langley BC – The sessions at Monsterpress are always good because we have Scott and Marty available to cover the shirt side, and room to accommodate a bigger class but still keep everyone occupied. The location just outside of Vancouver in a commercial t-shirt and poster shop can’t be beat, attracting attendees from Washington State, Vancouver Island, and even Calgary! Want to learn about sepping art for shirts? Scott’s your guy. This course usually has 10 spaces available. Contact them directly through the website to find out about the next one.

Popfuel

Toronto Ont. - Popfuel, a Toronto co-op screen printing studio, hosted our first Hogtown Squeegee session in Oct 06. In less than a year Jeremy has put together an amazing studio with a healthy membership and great equipment. Complete with pinball and inhouse film output, this is a great place to learn. If you are in the Toronto region and are interested in attending a weekend course in the fall, please contact Jeremy at Popfuel.

Whitehorse, Yukon

We’ve traveled north to do a number of courses, hosted by local organizations like Yukon Art Society, SYANA, and the Territorial government. Although a challenge logistically to move and setup an entire studio, these were incredible experiences for me. Meeting a lot of nice people was just a bonus, and we all had a blast making some incredible art.

Stratford, Ontario

A group of the people who work behind the scenes at the world famous Shakspeare Festival put on this workshop to get updated on using new low tox waterbase technology and improved photostencils. The host put together this little montage that gives you a peak at what we did in an old barn converted into a fabric studio. (They imprint the fabric for period costumes for the festival and contract to Broadway shows)

Multi-colour T-shirt Printing
Note we only have one-colour t-shirt printing equipment at Squeegeeville studio. If you are looking for an advanced multi colour t-shirt course using a carousel, it needs to be in a facility with proper equipment – a 4 or 6 colour manual press, tunnel dryer or flash, textile inks….  Both Monsterpress (near Vancouver) and Popfuel (Toronto) have this and we can include t-shirt basics in the INTRO COURSE.

Planning on coming to Squeegeeville? Take the time to discover the Comox Valley region of Vancouver Island at discovercomoxvalley.com There are good links on this website to transportation, accommodations, attractions, and wilderness adventure activities.  Courtenay and the Comox Valley are 60 miles north of Nanaimo, 120 miles from Victoria, and about 4-5 hours by car and ferry to Vancouver. We have a local airport (YQQ) with daily connections to Vancouver International, Calgary, and Edmonton. Pick-up is not a problem.
